Coffin Joint STaR

Duration
30 min

When to reach for it

coffin joint discomfort, short choppy stride, hard ground

About this program

The lowest joint of the leg sits hidden inside the hoof — and takes the first shock of every step. When it is unhappy the horse tells you in stride length: short, careful, choppy, worst on hard ground.

Consider this program when:

  • the stride shortens on hard going
  • the horse is careful on stones and rough ground
  • a veterinary-diagnosed coffin joint problem is being managed
  • hard-ground seasons ask a lot of the feet

One foot per treatment, alongside the farriery that shapes how this joint loads. A properly lame horse is a vet case first.
