Joints, Tendons & Ligaments

Fetlock Joint - Thoracic Limb

Duration
30 min

When to reach for it

front fetlock stiffness or soreness, landing after fences, hard ground

About this program

Every landing after a fence arrives in the front fetlocks first. It is the most extended joint in the horse's body at speed — and the price of that spring is wear that shows early in jumping and fast-work careers.

Consider this program when:

  • the front fetlocks are stiff or filled after jumping
  • hard ground has made the horse careful in front
  • an older sport horse's front fetlocks show their mileage
  • routine care for the landing joints in a jumping programme

One treatment covers the front fetlock with its supporting return. Heat, effusion or lameness go to the vet before any program.
