Hip STaR

Duration
21 min

When to reach for it

hip region discomfort, hindquarter stiffness, after a slip or fall

About this program

The hip hides under the deepest muscle in the horse — trouble there rarely shows as lameness, more as a hindquarter that has quietly lost its swing. A slip, a fall in the field or getting cast are the classic starts.

Consider this program when:

  • the hindquarter has lost freedom after a slip or fall
  • one hind leg swings shorter without clear lameness
  • stiffness sits high in the quarter rather than in the hock
  • an older horse's hip region is stiffening

One hip per treatment. A true hindlimb lameness needs veterinary localisation first — hip, stifle and sacroiliac imitate each other constantly.
